the box
I will have to find what the model is for you ,I can tell you the car was a v6 same donk as volvo . It had done a hand full of ks from new then a
truck ran over the back of it .
The off set is the same as vw on the hubs ,I dont think there would be to many laying around over here ,but there is a good renault wreaker in perth .

Seagull,
The man you need to talk to is Secoh (Jim). He is doing a Renault conversion into his beetle, with a twin turbo waterboxer as well.
From memory its a renault 25 gearbox.
He has had to cut a fair bit of body work. And of course a custom bellhousing. And custom shift mechanism. But it can certainly be done.
There are alot of these trannys being used in the offroad racing circles (in buggies), so I'm sure someone knows alot about them.

yep, as soon as I get the clutch back from Carter's Clutch in Maitland I will be making a bellhousing to fit the renault 5sp.
your box will be a UN1 gearbox (similar to the earlier 359 box I think it is). if it was a V6 car then it was either the R30, R21 or R25. theres a few
different UN1 boxes, the differences being ratios, diff ratios and LSD or not.
the UN1 box will cope with about 600hp according to the pommys, and the 359 5sp from the R20 will cope with about 300 odd hp.
oh, yeah, heaps of cutting of the rear seat area to fit it to a beetle, but it looks like it will fit under a kombi with no cutting of the floor.
Where the heck did you find one? How much and can you get me one too???
I will make more than one bell housing so hang in there, probably a couple months away.
If it aint broke,
Make it go faster!!

Yes this is r30 ,the box came from the renault dismantlers in madington ,the belhouse you are making waterboxer Vw donk ??? sorry not with that term
.
I doing Subaru ej20 turbo if i can find the donk for the right price in perth in my bug 62 or if i can find a notch back .I got a number of project on
the go so time is on my side for parts ect .these fit in a buss no problems ,there the same lenth as the auto ,the cv are spot on as well ,this one we
have made the cv to buss I not looked at the shafts yet .I have heard the new renualt bus box is good but the gears are a mile apart .
I have seen this box fitted to a custom 9 inch diff in perth ,this is a nissan v6 turbo ,the cluch & the diff wears out in one race (off road )
keep me posted to your project seagull
