Head Porting
Maybe this ain't quite the right section, but at least it's a new topic.
Who's got some experience with local (read Australian) Head Porters? I'm getting a little old and don't have access to the fancy gear
I did in my younger years; so I'm considering having a mild job done on my heads. I've run the figures and I should gain some legs in the
top end without losing anything in the bottom with a mild job.
I'm not interested in anyone who cuts out the exhaust guide boss on a street head - they obviously just have the equipment, not any real-life
esperience.
P.S. I don't really mind if this turns into another argument: I find the flames from the inexperienced quite amusing...

I had my headwork done at Crankshaft Engineering here in Brisbane. Dave and Craig both have extensive experience and knowledge on vw engines, have the
flow bench to eliminate the guess work. You can spend lots of cashola trying to improve the flow or can just do a mild tidy up like I had done on my
typeIV heads.

I will say talk to Richard at V Force.
He has done my heads but heas has done Jaks, 1303's (Paul) Deiters , that 2.8L type 4 heaps.
He can squeeze good power out.
Alex (his son) is posting here now (one of the 16yo who SHOULD be at school and wont read this till tonight) you can ask him or i should be having
sherberts with him this arvo.

I agree with Baz, Richard has quite a reputation for porting heads. He has a set of 42x37 044's from Cb that he has ported at the moment in his
workshop & they look better than the CNC ones!

I agree with Astro !
Peter has certainly proven himself with the drag motors he has produced and still producing !
Stan has the experience, but he orders them from the USA already ported. Not worth him doing them when it costs "bugger all" to arrive
already ported.

I gotta make a comment, jakriz: a hand - porting job should always beat CNC. The advantage of CNC is that it's cheap and repeatable. I'm
not knocking it's capabilities for an affordable improvement, but it's disadvantages are actually too numerous to list here (including,
Australia's market is not large enough for a competitive price.)
