removing heater boxes/new exhaust
Hi ! Being in a kind climate as we are i have no need for heating. More to go wrong , more weight on the car etc. The car requires new pee shooters
and as my hot motor is a year or so off i would like to replace the whole system . Is it easier to remove it as a complete unit still bolted together
or am i best to take boxes off first? My 1300 67 is stock standard but until my motor is ready i want to give the engine a tidy and tune up . Nothing
flash , just a good clean , new fasteners , splash of paint on the tinwear, hide the wiring , etc. Simple stuff. Just a few questions to help jog my
memory are needed! As i am basically taking the whole exhaust and heater boxes off what then is required. How and what will i have to blank off and is
there anything important i need to know . I know i need j pipes for the exhaust , it's more about the air ducting i'm unsure. Do i just
blank off the fanhousing where the hoses were and basically the same where the heater boxes meet?
Secondly i'm after a new set of headers and either a polished AI style / Phat boy muffler that will suit a 1300. Apart from a nice Air Cleaner
and possibly a 6v Bosch upgrade. What would be a reasonably priced system to get. In the past i have had alot of problems with headers not fittinfg
right , cracking aroung the flanges and fitting too close to the rear apron and burning the paint!! What have you guys and girls used and what $ wise
am i looking at?
