Cracked Dashboards

Anyone had experience with replacing dashboards in Golf Mk1s. Whats cheaper sourcing a secondhand part or getting it professionally reskined?

There is a mob in Brisbane that do dash repairs.... better than new....
I don't have their phone number etc as I am in Sydney & their card is at home.
My computer is DOWN at the moment...
I'll give You their number & You can ring them for a quote..... as soon as I can.

Dash repairs

G'day,

My Bro's boss recently had a dash repaired on a '74 bug that they were restoring. Not sure who did the repair, however once it was finished it looked better than new. Did it on site too! I can find out who did the repairs if you would like - just let me know.

dash restore

I had the dash of my '75 L Bug professionally re-skinned by the guys at RESTORE-A-DASH [ Marigold st. Mascot, Sydney sth. side], can't recall cost, Great job and very helpful, highly recommend their re-skinning technique.
Glad I went the extra as my finished L Bug looks great.

A Mk2 Dash will fit with a bit of fettling and looks great. Good luck getting one in Australia though.

I filled in the centre speaker hole on mine and the groove along the front, smoothed it and then got a guy to reskin for me. 150 bucks. Looks better than the stock one.
