air fliters

as i get closer to chopping the turd and making it into a baja( sorry Brad) i would like to know what air filters people are using on their baja'a and manxs. i have used the paper filter type that sits on the carby with an oil soaked foam cover on the race buggy and also a donaldson as well. The donaldson was great in the dust but raduced the horsepower. But trying to fit a donaldson to a baja is a bugger as it has to go on the guard. The paper filter was great for non dusty times but terrible in mud and dust. given that it would be more protected in a baja have people had trouble with mud and dust getting into the filter and suffocating the air flowor have you found that it is protected and stay relatively clean What brand do people suggest.

i,ve put a uni filter on my swb buggy. went unifilter cause i,ve used them on the dirtbike and they take that punishment so they'll work well on the buggy. can also carry a spare outer to keep it fresh at all times.

its up and a bit away from the dust kicked up by the rear wheels. will eventually put it down lower into a box ducted to the rear seat area.

a freind has this setup with his twin carbd manx and his filter remains perfect as his rear seat area is a ally box with shrouded flutes directly behind front seats (go to watch it if your jacket gets sucked up against intake flutes inside box).

another freind baja has ducted carbs to filter in ally box ducted into rear shelf. sounds good with the twin cannons blaring and the carby sucking...

ha ha.

its too bad you cant reach it to turn it off from the front seat so you just gotta keep on going...

this body is so weird, i dont think a bright red filter donging out the back would make any difference. the body looks like someone tried to make an astrum but got drunk on the job and made the front a bit funny, decided to glass up the side pods to act as floaties if in deep water and decided to make the back so that you either need to lift the body, remove the generator and fan housing or cut it open to remove the motor...
