which of these things do i need an engineers cert. for?
how many things do i need an engineers cert. for? i am getting closer to having my bus on the road and just wondering what i need certified.
RX3 front seats - 1 on VW rails, other on modified rails, were already installed in car but horrendously attached
fold out bed - wood based
cupboards - original outwardly but much modified
windows - cut into panelvan from near new
Poptop from Trakka - been on the car most of its life
Datsun Doorhandles - on inside of front doors
New lighting everywhere inside
Rear seatbelts - both lap only and mounted through floor as vans didnt come with mounts
Customised dash - smoothed guage housing and vent mounts
Subaru engine - registeed previously as subi powered with 1.6l engine, but now swapped to 1.8l (straight blt in conversion)
thats all i can think of for the moment, but how many of those things would need to be certified and how much should the certifying cost?

the motor definatly and the seats and the windows........the rest just get the guy who does the motor etc to tell u cause he will know:thumb

known if u know the right people!!! i wouldnt think u should worry about the engine just try and get it rego'd and show the old papers for having
the old suby motor!

will have to look, but think the QLD conversion plate lists the engine number, i know the old rego sticker did, and i believe because of the small
change in engine it has no effect. i thought because the windows and roof were fitted by a factory 30yrs ago that they would be fine?

Ecery State is different, but I would agree that you should try to get it registered & then fulfill that individuals requirements

buggyboy i was stating this as to get an engine plated by an engineer its $$$$$$ i was told for mine $500 for the first passing then $100 for everyone
after that and if he done everything by the books its well over $1000!!!!!
i know a few people who havent got there engine conversions passed and they get through rego with it whether they get insurance i dont know!!

Prices will vary, mine was $80 for the first mod, paying for the plate and the engraving, then $20 for each additional mod after that.
The best thing to do would be to find a respectable approval engineer to talk to. Vicroads should be able to give you the name of approval engineers
in your area.
