TypeX Forum

Since purchasing my Type 3 I’ve been perusing some of the other forums looking for info.
One thing I’ve noticed is the ease at which info can be located on the other forums as they break it down into type 1, 2, 3, and 4 etc.
Is there an interest or a chance of doing this here, similar to the newly created racers forum. Would make searching for posts on your specific type much easier.
Just a thought

My 2cents

There is over 2000 members and as said in other threads only a small amount of folk actually post. I think it's a good idea but i reckon the forums would be quite small. Are you having problems getting advise on this forum?

My thoughts on this is where exactly the line is drawn.. By the time we are finished we will have several forums with minimal posts in each one..

I'm not against the idea at all, or in any way, and in fact agree, however, I believe my point is a valid one. It also takes away posts from other areas of the forum.. eg. If I have a problem with my Notch, do I ask the tech section or the type 3 section?

The nature of VW dictates that much imformation as are partsare relevent to all flavours, also many of us here have more than one flavour , for these reasons and because of the limited volume of posts (in comparison to say US forums) I believe what we have is the way to go.

Hey thats cool....I have no problem whatsoever with the forum as it stands.
I agree with your concerns about post counts as some of th US ones take days to move.
Just thought It might make finding info easier.

Problem is; If you start"splintering" where do you stop?

There is 4 catagories of common air cooled (although type 4's are few & far between). Even then there is not much in common between the 3 types of air cooled Kombis.
That's just the air cooled!!!
The waterboys will want theirs & there is another half dozen catagories.
Then comes the niche mob, the dune buggy, country buggy & the list goes on.

All with a legitimate claim.

I like it the way it is, & if it aint broke-don't fix it.......
