kombi oil cooler/remote filter setup
finally no more getting too hot,
remote filter unit (Perma-cool)
removes oil filter from being blasted with hot air at the exit point of the air cooling system for cyl 3 & 4 AND the hot air coming down from
standard oil cooler
also gives a far larger exit hole for the hot air from these cylinders
very easy to change filter , & it is a VW Golf filter , considerably less than half the cost of a Kombi fliter & available everywhere,
Oil cooler is a high quality matrix type 11" X 8" (large) fitted horizontally & up out of harms way , air flows over both top &
bottom , & if need be (doubtful at this point) a scoop will be put at the REAR of it,
(negative pressure) air will get sucked over it, but dirt won't get forced in
and.. 6 metres of hose lines.
disadvantage over kombiluva's set up is that this does not at present have a thermostat, although it can be fitted
I am not too worried as I run very thin oil
(HPR 5) & have designed a sliding cover for the cooler to fit in winter
I am grateful to Richard at V-force for the suggestion of how to set up, & supply of the bits, I never would have thought of fitting the cooler
horizontal, but it sure does work

funny actually I fitted the oil cooler on Saturday in 40 degree heat & just had time to take it on a worst conditions I could find drive, then a
col change came through & then rain & still rain:jesus
forgot to mention that it now runs 15 degrees F cooler No holes drilled anywhere either , brackets look a bit crappy but they were fabricated in a
hurry

I think that was $120, I bought a lot of bits, American Auto parts was $126 for one only 3" X 8" & other places were mostly over $200
for anything useful

Is that your heater pipe wrapped in something in the third photo? If so, what is it and does it make a difference?

it is wrapped in some sort of plastic , with nominal amount of insulation & has been there from new (75 microbus deluxe) I can't tell you
what sort of difference it makes because I have not yet got the heaters working
