Melbourne Motor Show

Did anyone see the 23 window splitty at the Motor Show. It is on display as part of Shannons Show and Display, absolutely free, so if anyone wants to see a good example. Plenty of dubs in there, some for sale by auction as well. Dub stand in the motor show isnt too bad either, got the new R32 golf, schweet!!! WRX blue too!!

Just a correction, Its a Karmann Cabriolet Beetle. As A Karmann Ghia Convertible is totally different (Now IM not having a go at anyone, just correcting someone!, and to tell you the truth, Shannons even have it advertised as a Karmann Ghia Convertible beetle!)

Thats Cool, Just last time I corrected someone, it seemed to get a little heated... I actually was very Interested in that red cabriolet, as I had seen it at DOVW rang the guy and he stated he wants a lot for it, and When asked if he would part exchange the answer was NO I WONT! But in the end he wanted about 17K, nowhere near what shannons is asking....But they got to make money too!

Well it is extremely confusing. Karmann was a VW factory approved outfit that made the Beetle convertible (sort of equivalent of HSV with Holden) . Therefore the Beetle Karmann Convertible. Karmann Ghia on the other hand was just the sports coupe built by VW [Edit: but styled by Karmann). Hope that clears it up.

Good high ratio of vee dubs in the Shannon's display :)

Shame the show itself was a waste of money.... my personal opinion. It seems to get more and more boring every year. :-\ Is it just me?

Not too much exciting at all....

Last year the most exciting thing was a colour scheme I thought would look good on a split screen kombi... (ice blue with cream stripes)
This year... nuffin!

I agree with you up to a point. The last time i went was in 2000. Things have changed a bit. Didnt have the 4WD track then, had a go in the VW Touraeg. But inside was dull too many people. But if you went every year i can see that people would be bored. But blame that on the car companies.

Thats a good spot to go guys trust me, you will find the RC speedsters (Porsche 356 cabrio lookalikes) in there and well worth the look.

mmm. just went today. speedsters were VERY cool. did anyone look at the prices in the shannons auctions? most of the stuff seemed overpriced, but then there was a 1959 KG looking beautiful, withno reserve, for an estimated price of 7 - 11grand. isnt this very cheap!?!
