EJ25 Head Gasket Problems?

Below is a link to the first post of (probably a long) thread regarding this problem.
Does anybody here know of any history of problems in Aus with HG failure on the 2.5 litre engines?

The following are two links from a post further in to the thread.

No I don't, but fitting a an EJ25 SOHC was my favoured option. I just want to get some fix on the extent of the 'problem.'

Seagull the problem seems to be only with the EJ25. There is no mention in the thread (that I have linked to) of any problems at all with the other Subie engines.
My research has led me to the conclusion that the EJ25 SOHC has the best low down torque of the EJ's.
I am looking to fit one in to my 1990 Syncro so I doubt that you would have a suitable adaptor?
