check out this VW tank/kombi

i hope this hasnt been shown on here before, but i thought this was pretty interesting...
Well here's something you dont see every day.
Based on a rare WW2 1945 Studebaker "Weasel" Tank chassis, this machine will draw
the biggest crowds at any automotive event.
Completely functional, this baby runs and drives.
Certainly not a good daily driver (unless you drive to work in the dirt)
But talk about a fun play toy!
1969 VW Bus body was cut down to fit the chassis.
Extremely utilitarion look with lots of big bolts down the side and stuff.|
Registered in California as a 1945 Studebaker, it is just a few steps away from
actually being street legal. Rear lights would have to be installed and rubber pads put on
the tracks and from what I have been told...you could drive it on the street legally.
(right now it chews up the asphalt a bit..but it'll do about 30mph)
Engine has been freshly rebuilt and it runs excellent...just turn the key, flip the starter switch
and you are on your way.

Traditional lever controls.
4 speed transmission (3 fwd 1 reverse) with clutch.
Simple instrumentation.
Its pretty loud when in motion and it gets hot sitting right next to the engine
but if you want comfort go buy a Cadillac...if you want to crush stuff...buy a Tank! One of the most unique VW Vans on the planet.
The underpinnings of the vehicle come from a very rare WW 2 military vehicle.
Now with much more character...it is ready for serious fun.
Great movie car, transportaion on a ranch or whatever.
It'll climb anything you put in front of it and will pull stuff just as well.

The kombi tank is for sale in California for $12,500, anyone want to go halves?:bounce

I like it too.

I vote that it would surely piss the neighbours off. I'm Happy to go halves Sam provided I can have it a nights so I can reverse in and out during the wee hours and use it at stockton two a year!

I reckon ClubVWOffroad might sponsor the fuel bill for a bit of signage.
