Arrg,Box Swap - Brake Drum Stuck.. FIXED' READ ON I WILL TELL U HOW
I am Doing a Gear Box Swap on My Manx and there are Disc Breaks to put on... BUT the Box I got From the Wreckers (Finaly took almost 3 weeks and 2
wrong Box's) Has one of the Break drums STUCK to the Axle... F*@K...
I am Desparate....
Any Ideas.....
I DO NOT MIND Destroying the Drum...
Help Me Please..:cussing

If you can get the nut off, use an oxy torch to heat up the drum (not the axle) wack it around the axle with a hammer and also dribble cold water on
the axle. (the theory of this is that the drum expands and the axle contracts). has worked for me in the past.
Also your brake pads might be frozen to the drum. In this instance undo the adjuster as mych as yuo can, spray WD40 everywhere inside and wack the
hell out of it. has worked for me in the past.

SUCCESS....
Well...
What an Ordeal... Many hours, One Blown Angle Grinder and a Broken Hammer later I have freed the Brake From from the
the Axle...
So It took...
Tools- 1 Angle Grinder (maby 2 If your a Little impaitient) + Cutting Wheels
-Decent Hammer
-Chisel, Not a Big one I found Smaller was better, It is the angle of it that counts... Not a Thin one, One that is sharp but then becomes
quite Obtuse
- A Few Blocks of wood
- And a Steady hand...
So, Die Brake Drum DIE....
Cut with the Angle Grinder from one Wheel Bolt hole to the next, this will rid you of the bulk of the Drum..
Your left with a Square-ish block looking thing on your Axle..
It has 4 sides so! put a block of wood under it this will keep it steady.. Using the Blade of the angle grinder CUT along the middle of one of the
flat sides Parralell to the axle (At Right angles to the Square face you Cut previous)..
through the remaining metal of the brake drum As close to the axle as you dare (there ended up being a few nics in mine) you may even need to
sacrifice the outa oil seal thing to.. So once you have cut as far along and as deep as you dare use the Chisel where the metal if thickest (Where you
cut away the drum) the Chisle wil be like a splitter and force the gap apart with a few good Whacks from the Hammer. (A similar cut on the Opposite
side to the one your splitting will help However it took a cut on each side and the chisel to get in the end 4 sections off...

And now that the New box is in,
Im off for a Test drive..
All seems well, Still a Little bit to do..
Do tell me though, The cluch seems to make a bit of a scraiping sound when it engages... Im guessing this is fine, Just it doing its job..?
Drove to bondi and back, Seemed FINE
Goes REAL WELL too
