Chassis Numbers (not matching)
Hi,
Ive just bought a beetle supposedly a 1972 superbug, the ID plate and rego say
1122517649 which I take to mean 1972, but the car says
1141320257 thats on a welded plate (looks original) that is on the passenger side next to the spare wheel. so what does that mean if anything?
oh and the engine number starts with AD whats that one?
Thanks
Cory

The one welded on the floor near spare wheel is a body number
Have a look under the back seat near the gear shift selector plate this is the one that should match the alloy plate on the front beaver section.
