Sspension adjustments
I have just raised my buggy in the front and back (front end adjusters, and resetting the torsion bars), but now I have no suspension play at all. it
is a stiff as all buggery.
Have I done something wrong, or do they just need to "settle" in. ????????????
I have yet to drive it yet

Sounds like it's been raised to much and the torsion bars on the front are so tight from the aqdjusters it will take a lot of effort to move
them. The rear has probably been turned to many splines and it is probably sitting against the lower stops. I'd back the front off a bit and
then when it settles crank it up a little more. Same deal with the back but obviously not as easy. It's all a compromise between comfort, lift
and wear. Trouble is you have to sacrifice some to get the others.
Cheers
Steve

I raised my buggy and changed the shocks all round and I get a beatiful ride.
The rear went up one tooth on the external spline and the shocks were just ordinary beetle sports shocks from pedders. The rear arms (IRS) top out on
the inside wheel on corners so the lift that I got from that one tooth was as much as I wanted to go.
The front was a little harder as there was adjusters but they were set too low. I had to cut the front beams and reset them. The front shocks were
standard beetle 1500 shocks. I choose these shocks as I was having trouble with the front of the buggy bouncing on the bumps whilst cornering.
The overall ride seems soft enough for me, the car doesn't bounce too much at all. I probally would recommed stiffer shocks if you loaded your
buggy up alot.
Remember also not to set the wheel travel at the highest extreme. The wheel has to be able to move both up and down so don't get too greedy with
the height. After all if you hit a pothole the wheel has to be able to move down into it, if not then the wheel will drag the whole car down with it
giving you a very bumpy ride indeed.
