Camber compensators and swaybars
My bro has a couple of questions about his '59 baja.
What options are there so far as sway bars etc go for these early beetles.
That baja has no rear bumper mounts
Also I get WICKED axel tramp if gifing it heaps, is there somethign that can be done.
It is running an 1835 with dual kadron's and porsche style alternator/shroud.:o

Check your Bowden tube deflection if you're getting axle hop on take off...

What do you mean no bumper mounts?
Most baja bumpers mount to the rear tranny mount and the rear shock towers.
How are the rubber tranny mounts, maybe replacing them with harder(urethane?) units will help stop the tramping. |

How do you know what is the correct deflection for the bourdon (sp) tube ?
Yeah, thats how the bumper attaches - to the tranny mounts, but then also to the firewall. By no bumper mounts I mean the original bumper mounts,
which I thought the sedan style camber compensators use ????

correct me if I'm wrong but isnt a lot of hard power take off axle tramp caused by the eng support forks flexing up and down.?
I have poly urth.. mounts on the oval and mine will still hop if "over excited". I have nt yet set up my usual "rear of engine support
" which will stop this behaviour - yet.
On my Bo's race car which has rear clip removal . we braced the forks up to the roll cage (near back window grill). never axle hops , does do
nice power drifts on take off though.
