Woohoo! My 1st real DIY, but...
Got a call early last week saying the boss kit for my new autotecnica steering wheel has arrived...
Couldn't resist anymore, so i bought the thing and said to myself, i've got to put the new steering wheel on TODAY!
yeh, one of those impulsive buys =P
Anyway, follow the haynes manual to remove my old steering wheel, took the plastic contact ring out, realised the hole is a bit smaller than the new
boss kit, filed down the hole a little and fitted it underneath
Put the boss kit on, tighten the steering wheel nut, start putting the wheel on, dropped one of the allen head screws in the bush, oh crap! took me 15
minutes to find the little bugger... Anyway, all is well, worked out how the horn button work as well =P
started driving around, felt pretty good, different to the stock wheel that i'd been using for the last year, at least it didn't come off when i'm
driving!
however, it's then i realised the top 1/5 of the speedo was blocked off by the new steering wheel! couldn't see the 60km/h and 80km/h marks
has anyone experienced the same problem? i guess i might have to live with it, it might be better if i'm taller but it's not much I can do about it
now... :vader

I had the same problem when I replaced the wheel on my Beetle. It was annoying at first, but the convenience of a smaller steering wheel outweighs the
inconvenience of having to duck slightly to see what speed I'm travelling at.

I had the problem with the standard wheel and standard seats. put a lower seat in, which made it bette, then put a momo race in, now can't see top1/3
of wheel. just learn to live with it. try and work out some marks, eg the start of the fuel gauge is 60km, the middle is 80km etc
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!

Lee: Your steering wheel looks like mine! Will take a pic of it later. It seems like it's more of a problem for curve screens as the speedo sticks
out a bit more.
Bix: I was thinking the same as in lower seats should fix the problem, I'll just have to live with it for the time being. Good tips for checking the
