Metalic looks crap when you first spray it. 1200 paper, water rubbing compound and then carnuba wax it'll be a million bucks! Nice color (that was my color choice before I went Gumby Green).

VW0064 mine looked just like yours after I'd finished painting (I had not painted a car since 1986). Apply that magic thing called elbow grease and persistance and look at the result.

Your Bug would look great with the wheel centres painted the metalic blue instead of the gold. Lot of masking though.

Softop, no worries. I'll test it out for the future.

64 is that the new polisher above the beetle in the second pic? .. throw the wax on and hope for 20 knot winds.

Jokes aside, very nice color and job, shiny gunmetal looks classy on any car.

Well, I was going to post a pic but I'm damned if I can get it as big as yours and keep it under 50kb!

Cool, it actually worked! the pic makes the paint look good ;)

Actually in real life it feels like sandpaper and looks like the Previous owner (I've had it for about 3mths) ran around the car with a can of paint each.

One with a can of blue and one with a can of black!

I'll try the 1200 and some cutting compound and see what happens.

Roj.

<These are some i started and have since given them up to people with more energy>

I know what you mean, I had the same feelings with my other toys.

I had 2 V12 Jags (only one now) the paint was'nt the problem, keeping up with the mechanicals was though.

paint jobs

I was under hte impression that with metallic paints you spray the paint then spray the clear coats and polish over the clear coats...least that what spray painters have told me

DONT GIVE UP!

like my wife always says. There'll be no "unfinished projects" being sold off for bargain prices. Finish it and sell it if you must, but I reckon you might decide to keep it after you get a few compliments out on the road.

Yeah,
Keeping it till its finished but its of to the Blasters to remove its new coat of crap paint , and then i am leaving it to the pro's.
I've had enough of dealing with this metal crap.
Give me fibreglass to play with anyday.
