Chances are it is a late 60's, uhh.. from 65-69?? - I'd be guessing. The ball joint front end tells me in my brief knowledge of the world, that it
is possibly a 67.
What do you want to know? They are factory sunroofs, but not the type that VW were used to making, being a ragtop. People often complained about their
ragtops(weather, ripping, ease of theft, etc) and so I would say in their wisdom created a metal sunroof model.
There is a few around sure, but not stacks. They have a handle, loosely related to the Golde handle in a rag, but instead this is a winder, and the
sunroof is 'wound' open and closed. If I am not mistaken, these roofs were also made by Golde.
Your friend, doesn't have something SPECIAL, but they definately have something different.

Does it wind at all. If it does get as much grease in there to help it out. Be gentle though! i had one in the Uk and they are pretty rare but very
expensive to replace. If it doesn't want to wind back fully don't force the winder , be patient or it will break.
Not knowing how rare they were and the fact i broke the mech i now can't believe that i wedged it up in place sealed it up ! Oh well , young , dumb
and full of ......
