For those who don't know, some bastard flogged my tail light lenses the week before the nationals. $60 later I was back on the road & got over
it.
Sunday night, some son of an unmarried goat had another go at my truck!
Broke the quarter window on the sliding door. Fortunately, the sliding door is a deadlock, so they weren't getting in that way & the front door
locks are too far to reach. So I've lost nothing, but it pisses me off.
12 years my truck has been parked on the street with no problems. Now it's been attacked twice in a month.
What's got me is my truck looks like such a piece of shit, why would anyone go near it?
Well my friends are gone & my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play.

It was very probably the same person or crew both times. They
probably have a good knowledge of the area and may even be
local (if average crime theory works in this case).
Noticed anyone new in the area with the same model? Go
and have a nice chat with them. Make them feel guilty, you'll
probably see it in their faces if they did it.
They probably won't be back real soon, but they may very well return, as they didn't score a thing the second time around.

take time off work and sleep in the back with a baseball bat.
had the same problem once, came out one morning, my bugs engine lid was up some one had stolen the spark leads and the spark plugs!!
same day the bug up the street which had been sitting for months rotting started driving around again.
i thnk its just newcastle...

Mmm , i'm too paranoid to leave my bug anywhere to be honest. Even keep the garage door down if i working on it. Take it to work and use the workshop
to detail it etc. Too many people are scum bags and if someone keyed my car or robbed it i'd be so gutted!

It's a bit of everyone is right.
Yes Sam, it's sort of welcome back to the city. Been too long in a place where you COULD trust your neighbours.
Vwombat, I do know most of the kombis in the area, but there was a "ring in" appeared a couple of blocks down for a couple of weeks & I haven't
seen it since my lenses vanished. Thing is because my gearbox doesn't have the connection for the reverse lights, I painted over the clear bit of the
lense. So I WILL recognise my lights if I see them.
However I don't think the 2 are connected. The lenses happened right out the front, either in broad daylight or fair under a street light, (so ya
gotta give em an A for balls), the break in was 4 blocks down the road at the railway station car park. Easy pickings.
As for the baseball bat, Ive always prefered pulling someone apart bare handed...........

not just newcastle ,its everywhere.had a mate park his car in local carpark 1/2 hour later it was gone. found it 4 days later minus a few pieces and
burnt out. i think a hockey stick would be better as you can hook them back to you as they try to run away!!!!!!!:P

Trouble with the city Dave is they tend to frown on you carrying a rifle. The bastards even outlawed the big knife I used to carry for cutting beasts

Dannyboy, someone actually damaging my kombi doesn't overly bother me, unless it costs me to fix it. Mine is very much a work horse, so one more dint
don't really matter. You'll see people trying to get the "RAT" look, mine just turned out that way.
It's the principle of it. People pinching, or attempting to pinch, my gear pisses me off. Most of all because I'm the kind of bloke that will give
away what I don't need. Quite a few people on this forum will back that.
As for being alone when I catch up with them, don't go thinking that because I drive a kombi & my daughter made a dangling bead thing for the
mirror, that I'm some sort of hippy. I like violence & I'm quite adept at it.

Dickheads break into it for fun. Everytime he fixes a lock they break it again. They dont steal the car. They dont get anything from it. They just see
that he fixed the lock and break it again. He's given up now. The problem with that is the insurance companies dont like it.

Some are Chris, not all, but in the end I don't know who did this so I aint about to blame one group, & certainly not a whole generation. You
might also remember that I am the father of 5 of todays youth.
As I said there was a kombi appeared to be visiting someone down the road. It dissappeared straight after my lenses. So although it's a pretty fair
bet, I'll never know. But as I also said, I will recognise my lights if I see them.
The break in, well you've seen my truck. It's got dints, scratches, undercoat, mismatched tyres & silicone round the windows. Basically it's
only worth 100 bucks if it's got a full tank of fuel. But there's a couple of grand worth of tools in the back.
Pod, the bleeding hearts have taken over & we can't go back.
When I was a boy you got six of the best at school, the local copper could give you a size 11 up the date & no one dared question your fathers
right to bring you into line. All gone.
Then the same bleeding hearts want parents to pay for the damage these undisciplined children cause!!
It's all in the way you look at things.
They see me physically chastising my children as child abuse. Go the other way, when the first real taste of authority they get is when they are
hereby known as the defendant, & it's too late to change a damn thing.
I see that as child abuse.
But if you really want to see where things are f#cked up: I can be fined $400 for smoking a legal substance on central station. Not far down the road,
I can inject heroine into my veins, they supply the needle & a nurse & don't ask where I got the heroine.
The world is run by head cases..............

this is happening a lot in Newcastle it seems, mate had the tailgate stolen from his F100 truck last nite at Buttai Barn, I had the screen door and
bug zapper stolen from my house at Woodberry last year, and my mates and I have given up trying to keep valve caps on any of our cars.

If anyone gave my kid six of the best (or any physical punishment) I'd be mighty upset and they would be charged with assault, assuming I didnt take
the law into my own hands and deal out some justice of my own.
I strongly believe that discipline starts from the minute a kid crawls. You dont smack unnecessarily. Never smack first. Fire a couple of warning
shots first. Spend as much time with them as you can so they dont need to be attention seeking. My daughter very rarely gets a smack. Some of the time
when she does get one I regret it because I overreact. Dont try to be too regimented. She can jump on beds, make noise, do what she likes so long as
it isnt destructive or dangerous. That way she doesnt have anything to rebel against. I find that losing out on ice cream, taking away pencils, or
even knowing that mum and dad arent impressed is as much a deterrant as anything else.
When my wife and I temporarily seperated, the kid went off the rails a bit. Yelling and smacking didnt help. But putting a piece of pink carboard on
the fridge and giving a star a day for good behaviour did. She got a treat when she finished a row of stars. And the treat was usually nothing, like
$2 for one of those shopping centre rides.
The trouble starts when the kid doesnt get any discipline or too much. Gotta be a happy (light) medium I reckon. With any luck my girl wont have time
to be a shit. Hope she keeps up her swimming, athletics and ballet, and next year maybe soccer. All depends who they play with at school I guess. One
reason why she doesnt go local.
