Kombi Twin Cab

Hi Guys,

I've just recently purchased a Kombi Twin Cab to carry my magazines around in and am looking to put a new set of wheels on it.

Presently it has an old set of 14" Ford Globe Mag wheels, but the offset is wrong. I've had Kimm from Indian Automotive in Sydney do a nice lowering job for me, and the Globe wheels sit too close to the rear guards for comfort.

Chris from Volkspower has some nice BRM5's that might do the trick, and he suggested I post on the forum and ask for any opinions on these wheels if someone else has used them on a lowered bus. I'm looking for an offset of 35mm, and no greater than 37mm.

Cheers

do you have the "wide 5 " stud pattern or the later pattern?
you might get away with putting thinner tyres on the wheels like 185s. Ive got 195s on my bus and they dont hit the inside of the guards. only one small catch and that is they have to be flat to fit ON..so side of road tyre changes are gunna be a headache..i'm gunna put skinnier tyres on whe these wear out (not long) maybe on 15" wheels as well. i think that is what kimm has done, he has 16s and low low profile tyres so they will go in and out of the wheel well.
when are we gunna see some pics of the lotwin? soon i hope

Here is a picture of my latest acquisition.

Owner was Darryl Whitelaw from Melbourne. It's a credit to him. He kept it in good condition. Everything is there.

Thanks for the input on wheels. I here Mercedes rims are also a consideration.

I have Merc mags (alloy) on mine and have 205/65/15 tyres all round. I don't have issues with the fitment at all but also have the standard ride hight. I had 600kg of dirt in it on the weekend and the tyres did not touch the guards on the rear. Made the steering nice and light!!!:thumb

Hi Craig, you might actually need a *larger* offset rather than smaller, bearing in mind that the offset offsets the wheel inward, away from the guard...standard wheel offset is 38 mm.

This link might help:

Rear Side Windows

I notice your bus has the sliding rear windows for the passengers.

Are these hard to find?

Me thinks I'll be needing them for summer in Brisbane.

Those merc rims you have fitted were ones that I looked at the other day. They may possibly do the trick.
