KP front end mods?
I was wondering? Can I cut off the bumb stops on my front end to increase articulation/height on my KP axle????
Will coil overs suffice to protect the body work from an outa control front tyre or maybe some limiting straps? Any advice would be
appreciated:thumb

Yep cut them off you dont need them. YOu can put them on top of teh top trailing arm to stop the wheels hitting the body if you like.
Why is your front tyre out of control ?

why is my front tyre outa control?
I have a bad habit of seeing how much air time my poor manx can achieve- last time I did this I had a poor landing and nose dive into a dune- busting
up the rubber cone on the susp. stoppers on both sides. I dont have a body lift yet so I wouldn't like an "outa control" tyre hiting my guard.

limiting strap
Hey brad,
do you need to put some sort of limiting staps on to limit the downward movement?
I've had a problem with the tie rods hitting the frame head when the suspension is wound up too far, so I was thinking you might bend them without
something to stop the trailing arms in the event that you get airborne.

would coil over shocks help with up ward movement? prob a combination
of limit straps for down wards movement and stiffer shocks for up wards???

When you cut off your bump stop leave 20mm of it there. Make some front hooks up like this and weld them on...
(ps I'm not an artist lol)

One more thing is you need to put a big bolt in the hole of the bump stop tube and weld it in

Note. I don't believe this is a legal modification for a road registered car. Legally you should not weld to any cast suspension component of a Road
Going car. The front trailing arms are cast.
From memory suspension (to be legal) also needs to be limited to 30% extra travel in either direction from stock. I read this as 160% total. This
means if factory has 6 inches travel you can legally have 9.6 inches. But at no point can tyres or suspension foul on anything (body)
The easiest and most legal way to limit suspension is to weld the bump stop back on above the top arm to the shock tower so the wheel doesn't hit the
guard. You will have to gusset for strength.
You may or may not need a limiting strap to limit downward travel, you will have to measure how far your wheel drops and make sure that your total
travel stays withing legal limits, and that your tie-rods don't hit.

hi mate if u want to make your manx big u can cut and turn it and weld it up all u do is take the front end out remove the ams and leaves cut out the
holding nut in the midlle on both top and bottem bars then put ur leaves back in to the bit u cut out and turn it till u have the hight u want ant
weld it up do the both and u have a big front end but be warned i did it to my and it was big like slide a milk crate from one end to the other but u
can make it as big as u want and adjust the back to suit have fun |

you can do it that way, but adjuster are much better and are just as easily installed.

Yeah I bought a set of adjusters a few weeks ago from micks motors when I was down that way, but have not installed them yet as the upper trailing
arms already touch the bumpstops as is (hense this post). I quit my job last week and am taking 6 weeks off before I start the next so all the work
I've been planing for the manx should be completed in this time....... fingers crossed...... I will post some pics to show the evolution.
