Strange goings on in temp town

My Caravlle is funny,

Sometimes the temp gauge starts flashing and the temp needle starts going up. If I turn the ignition off and then on, whist still travelling, then it settle back to it's happy self.

Sometimes however it will do this every thrity seconds. It's got water, so what's going on? There must be something up?

So a loose or faulty sender in the temp gauge you mean?

the sender is the little thing that is reading the temperture and it sends this up wire or vacumm tube or whatever the hell it uses and this is then interpreted by you through looking at what the guage reads....it is possible that the sender (sensor thingy) is not reading correctly

I think you will find you have the dreaded cyl head leakage problem suffered by all vw wbx motors eventually. Will drive you mad. Swore I would not have it again and fitted subaru to mine. Best thing i ever did car wise and costs less than fixing wbx. Now I have 60% more power, reliability and a damn fine car again.
let's know how you get on
good luck

I'll try loolking at the sender on the weekend, hopefully that's all it is. If only all templ problems could be tucked away with a simple flick of the ignition....
