brake lights in my type3 not working

hey all -----
in the fountain of wisdom that is the avd forum......can anyone help me out with my brake lights?
they work................but only if i brake really really hard and push the pedal all the way to the floor.
is it a bad connection?
nothing wrong with the bulbs or anything - its just if i brake lightly - or only "tap" the brakes no lights come on ------ not a good idea as no one behind me can see me slowing down.......
any advice?
thanks, thorun

Would guess it is the brake switch attatched to the master cylinder.
It is a pressur opperated switch and must be dodgy.
Get it changed and see what happens.
