Still reckon a Lexus V8 would be a better option....
That said....A bombed 308 will scoot, but I wonder about the balance of the bus???? Time will tell!

I seems to remember a monster bus from FNQ or somewhere that had a commie V8 in it?

Go to it, I want to know how this goes as I'm sure a few others do.

I did a lot of 14.8's and 1x 14.68 at uphill eastern creek probably 5 or 6 years ago. It was a daily driven, regular fueled VW engined.

here's a challenge for you guys.
First w/e of november is the Volks Enthusiasts club of S.A. show on Adelaide.
On the Saturday there is Drag racing at Adelaide International Raceway, and there is a special VW bracket.
I'm keen to run my v6 bay, and theres an ej20 T25 bus that's gonna run again, and now a VR6 T25 bus too, and prob another ej20 T25.
The challenge is for you guys to drive over for the w/e, race your busses on Saturday, and embarrass some ricers and wannabe's, then enjoy the show on sunday.

are you up for it??? :)

Most people seem normal, till you get to know them.

I wanted to do serious racing and the kombi body was being over stressed so swapped some bits for it with Hellbug. It suffered a couple of years of abuse at Hellbug as a parts chaser. After that it was sold to a nursery in southern sydney somewhere and filled to the roof with things that smell, dynamic lifter, fertilisers etc. I think it may still be doing that. It is now being serviced by Dunhams in Wonoona. Hasnt changed at all. Still has the cookies, still has the wires hanging from the roof where the light should be, still has the crap tape deck in the dash. Only differences are the seats are trashed, the cookies are trashed, and the paint has crows feet. Sad to look at.

The engine went into my fastback and has never ran properly since, although it has mangaged to break 2 gearboxes, which the kombi never did. Managed a popping and farting 13.8 in adelaide a long time ago. It is now sitting on my garage floor, with spooky little bits of metal in the sump. It still runs fine, just doesnt go hard. High 14's at the nationals I think.

When it was in the kombi, nothing. It was a stock 2 litre box.
In the fastback it was a kombi box with the berg adapter stuff, standard gears at first. I blew 2nd gear flat changing at Bathurst. After that I borrowed another kombi box that had albins gears, but blew first gear out of it at the nationals this year doing a burnout but missed the water. Dont believe that guy out in front who tells you where to stop.

Must be hard to see a car that you have rebuilt go to the dogs like that....

I've sold one or two of my cars before, but I've been lucky (I think) never to see them again since. Would hate to think what could have happened after all the hard work I put into them.

So there is probably still a future for the engine to live again - once uni is finished and you are 'gainfully employed' (I think thats what they call it) ?
