I would not wreck that van.Last time I was in the UK went to see a van,no bullshit you could open the side doors and walk inside and close the doors and you would still be standing on the ground. It was about to break in half.It was sold while I was there.

david, they all need work. even the ones that look good and solid at first. they are all decaying. but i can tell you they are worth it in the end.

here is a pic of my dcab, lois. no sills. no floor. no tray. no nose bottom.

and splitbus australia's leo. he is the same.

but mate up to you, hey.

it looks so hopeful when i am picking it up

almost like he is glad to be on the trailer i have always found good homes for the kombis i have dug out of farms and old sheds ,this is borderline but you are right peter they aint making them anymore and after looking at what can be repaired i am leaning towards keeping it as a complete van
thanks for your input guys

just look at it. you can almost see the tears of gratitude seeping from the headlights. a few k's later down the road it was probably mumbling 'here we go here we go here we go...' to itself. it would be a crime to let it down now

If you can replace it let it go. If you're unsure do nothing. Don't do it. You know you don't want to.

I'm in the situation, just in a little deeper. My philosphy is to hold on to it. All they need is money and time (two things I don't have), but at least I know it wont end up in a crusher, or worse.... Overseas!

Just out of curiosity, i will be heading to the UK in a couple of years when my degree is over and i plan to spend a couple of years there! What would you pay for a kombi like that one? And what would it cost for one in top order (either split or bay)? Is it expensive to fix up kombis there?

Cheers

If you've got room , can afford to keep it then i keep it for sure. Just look at it as a long project! Coming from the UK it will be a rot box and too expensive! Stick with what you've got , you know where your at with it , what needs doing , better the devil you know. Lastly as others have said they are few and far between and imagine how good it will be to see it all painted up and rolling down the road!

I'd love one , a very , very fast one!

Dan:)

They can't really bog them up with newspaper and bread can they. No wonder they will snap up one from here with only the bottom 3 inches rusted away.
