Chroming front bumper...advice sought

Hi Guys

I am thinking hard on chroming my front bumper on my Splitty. I need to know if anyone out there has done this already and what the pitfalls are.

I've been given good input by the guy who has chromed some smaller parts for me that I should sand blast the inside of the bumpers only as if I do the outside it hardens the steel and makes it very hard for them to prepare the surfaces. I am told it will cost me $300 per bumper. I will be approaching the chrome platers over the next couple of days....

Appreciate any input tho.

Cost sounds about right.I bought new bumpers for my Oval-both show chrome quality(made in Brazil) One had a crap finish and after getting a couple of replacements with the same quality decided to have it rechromed at $150.First time it came back all the chrome lifted of as I cleaned it-sent it back and chroming was good but a small dent appeared which had been chromed over-decided to give up and use it as is..Advice for you-have it paint stripped and make sure the surface is perfect.Another plater told me to have any dents repaired and Tig weld to finish off and sand smooth.Tig welding does not get any pin holes like other welding.

Make sure you ask for triple chroming, anything else isn't worth it.
