As we drive old cars, we need to stay intune with them man.
It also helps to recognise a potential problem and do somthing before the worst happens and ther for saving a money.

I agree totally. Basically I reckon replace things with new and check things regularly that could be fatal, i.e. replace brakes, fuel lines and check
connections, check oil, valves etc.. the car should go forever then (almost). Not a big deal but it's time consuming so you have to enjoy doing it or
enjoy paying for it to be done.

when u do get money for someone else to fix it, it's great, till you
start to wonder wat the new noise is, :o then begin to wonder if it was done properly, have you thrown money away? why didn't you do it yourself etc...:cry then you realise it's just a new prob surfacing once the
mechanic surgically removed the big scary noise!lol (well that's this years buggin in a nutshell for me.lol). don't know if i could trust someone
else to do everything for me (I am a mechanics nightmare :P) |

..... and if You do it Yourself.... many sleepless nights.... thinking... did I tighten that up??? and I didn't tighten that other one up
too tight ??.....
Spark plugs are the best.... clean & regap and reinstall them??? Not in Your Life.... when a lawn mower stops.. its usually the spark plug... and
it doesn't matter if You clean it - regap it - polish it - or have it chrome plated - it still will NOT fire....
so when the plugs are worn out [by miles] or a misfire... just throw them away... they just aren't worth keeping anymore...
I've always trusted Mechanics !! well its their business to do a good job... although the mechanic who overhauled My Beetle engine works on normal
vehicles most of the time....... and My repair manual told Me what the genuine VW manual says," the arrow on VW pistons , points to the flywheel"
.... and it also said it confuses many mechanics who also work on standard vehicles.... I checked, and Yes they were all in wrong.... [Flywheel in VWengine is towards the front of the car.. in most other cars its towards the rear of the car] Now I do know they are in correctly.... but are the
head bolts done up correctly???? etc etc.....

Heya Cheapie!
I found this really interesting "Tear in the space/time continuum" whilst cruising in Canberra last week. Evidently John Howard has been using it to
transport good old fashioned narrow minded conservatism back into our time realm (another story).
Anyhow, I went into the future and got me a tub full of specialist VW Nanotechnology. You just pour them all over your machine, and they do rust, donk
clunks and paint from the atom up. Sounds like a good solution to your problem. Did I mention that they also have really interesting fungus varieties
growing down there?
