When I went to the beach trip I consistantly used less fuel than brad daz or the others in their buggies. And thats a heavy baja VS a light buggy in
sand, and still getting better economy. I get at least 10L/100km around town.
My adaptor cost $66. Flywheel is more and depends on how you go about it. The CAD drg of my adaptor is available for anyone to use.
But if your on a budget go for one of the EJ motors. The EJ25 should have similar torque to mine, without the 6 cyl smoothness at real low revs like
600rpm. The EJ's are lighter and an easier fit.

I went for a ride in a Lexus V8 powered early celica a while back....
Soooo sssmmmoooottthhh!
And it was twin turbo too!
I know what you are saying Wes in regards to trail bike likeness, but I can say that I used to go places in my old Notch that 4WD's use to bury
themselves in.....Useless drivers I reckon. I'm talking about beach driving here, not serious rut trails...Never done, but would like to try. And it
would be nice to do it in a 2WD VW!

yeah, they sound like retarded 4wd owners Simon.
Another problem with a TDi would be getting it legal. The substitute engine is not supposed to change the weight on the axle by more than 10% or
something silly (can't remember).
My V6 is supposed to be the lightest V6 in it's class. Me and my engineer weight it with a load cell. It's still heavy compared to the VW motor, but
not by too much. It's probably pushing the 10% rule though.

10% weight difference!
Funny thing is I don't seem to remember a rule like that over here!
We have a capacity rule here....
Strictly speaking I can't built over 2ltr's for my bug as it is to large. As my car came from the factory with a 1300, I can only stick a 1900 in it
legally!!!???
My brothers Notch is on the limit as far as sedans are concerned. His car came with a 1600 from the factory, which means the max capacity he can get
into it legally is 2ltr!
But what about the turbo multification factor?
I didn't ask!!!!
But if the vehicle is a commercial, then you can stick anything you like into it...No probs!
A mate has a Big block Corvette donk in a HiAce van! And as you know I am sticking a 3.3ltr into a van that had a 1600 in it!
Strange rules huh?

Doubt it....Seems all the states have differing rules!
You can register anything you like in SA as long as it has been registered at some point in that state, no need for an inspection either!. So that
means a ProTurbo, tube chassised Bug with 600hp can be registered in SA as long as the car is on record for being rego'ed there in the passed! NSW
don't really have a problem with tubbed rear ends on Street Machines as long as it is engineered....I'm sure all the rules are subject to
interpretation and the auto inspectors good humour!
