I had an idea that Blaupunkt made a lot of the old ones, no idea how to tell though if no name on it - sorry!

had a look on ebay international, this one doesnt seem to match pretty much anything. most of the VW radios (blaupunkt included) had push buttons, but as you can see this one has no space for them.
anyone got any guesses? even a guess on age?

It IS a AWA radio made in the 60's. You will find the cradle it came with next to the rocking horse shit and the Chicken lips

If you don't have the radio as well it will be hard to get. The two holes on the top of the facia are for a telescopic aerial (for picnicing) and a key hole for unlocking out of the cradle.
The radio is marked as a "Panorama 8".

hey Aussie BLKBUG, on the side of mine there is a hole for something...aerial ?.I had a look inside when cleaning it and it had an internal aerial plus a lead plug for a car aerial.
I havn't got a pic of the side but was wondering if it would be for an telescopic aerial, where would I find one ?

I would say that hole will be for extra external car aerial plug as opposed to the cradle aerial lead. You will need to find an early car aerial plug that will fit (may be hard?) Is it a bayonette fitting??

Those ferris radio's have internal aerial's that work great, you will find a switch that operates the radio on the car aerial when in the cradle, then flick the switch for picnic time when it's out of the car.

Blaupunkt

Blaupunkt made them in Germany too. The model name was the Blaupunkt Derby. These are very common in Germany and even quite common here in the UK. Prices are usually only around 15-25 (British) Pounds when they come up for sale. Hope this helps.

Here's an example from eBay in Germany- there's about 8 for sale on there at the moment...

All the best,
