cmon ask the question and see which one of us the guru. I know a bit. The engine is in the back. Spare tyre is in the front. Has 2 doors just like all sports cars. Some can break gearboxes if they try to do burnouts but miss the water and dump the clutch on VHT. Who wants to buy mine?

there is no PLACE for parts, get to know people, visit wreckers and mech's. etc. ask on here. later type 3 stuff is cheaper and easier to come by.

rubbers from west coast for ok quality stuff or source some quality german stuff

the only parts being repoped are the heater chanel area under the door, everything else is pretty much no longer made.

cheers

Well I bought my new rubbers from Vintage Vee Dubb in Sydney...they give forum members a discount...

Vintage Vee Dub Supplies
Unit 1 / 11B Harp Street Campsie NSW 2194 Ph 02-9789-1777 Fax 02-9718-8704

They can send you a catalogue of their West Coast Metric stuff...

There are other suppliers around...WCM stuff is good....

I've got a '70 sqback....can't get decent hinge covers for the rear door.....and no one does the repro rubber mats for the back either ....other than that you can pick up any other part repro or second hand...

Go to VW swap meets.....search ebay or TheSamba....

Check out our trading/Bazaar section here & place a WTB if no one is selling what you're after...there is usually someone with the part in their shed...Then you strick a deal together...

WCM online catalogue so you can see what's out there..

and the Wolsburg West one....

Here they are...but not too good for parts...

People tell me that I might get the rubber mat for the back from the UK...but I've done extensive searches and come up empty!!

I find that the internet is the best place to buy parts, whether locally or from O/S. Try going to west coast metric direct, ebay, CIP, Aircooled.net. I have found buying from O/S can be cheaper than buying locally and with the strong AUD at the moment, it's a good time to buy.

As for info, AVD is a good start, there are a few type 3 lovers here, or for more specialist advice try. Some people will also sell you second hand parts if you ask.

Jen, is this what you're looking for
