rust hole (updated 11-7)

look what happens when you start picking at what was thought to be a 20c piece size hole. You get some idiots idea of putting a plate the size of this hole over existing rust to make it worse.Templates are at the ready ,wish me luck:thumb

Watch your health....

Dude,

You are welding over Zinz coated sheeting...the fumes from this stuff when welding is toxic...

Any easy thing to do is give the edges/flat surface a brush with an angle grinder prior to welding...takes off the zinc coating....do ya welding, then coat the area with cold gal paint or zinc alum paint...

Nice work...keep it up!

yeah i know that from doing welding at work(have a big sucking m/c there).Should have picked on some hot rolled or cold rolled but it was first thing i found which wasnt to thick. It was done outdoors which helps with ventilation, is now ground and painted over with zinc primer ready for next step. Thanks for the encouragement.
