What do I need for a stroker?
Apart from clearing the case, the stroker crank and P&C? Conrods are different? Exhaust will be different I assume. Dual carb linkage will have to
be extended? Tin?

Not to mention feeding this engine at least dual carbs or injection I recomend and not kadrons there a wast of time on big motors and machining,
clearancing, head work. So yeh 10 to 15 thou as far as the gear box, drive it till it breaks and in the meantime save up for a beefier box.
Good Luck and have fun.....I am

All depends on how big you go.
It is the heads that cost the money and really influence the exhaust size and also the type of carbs etc...
You could build a standard type 2275(small valves) and run it with a really mild cam, single carb and a 1 1/2 exhaust....would not rev that hard, be
pretty economical and pull tree stumps for fun.
The width is not that different because of the pin location in piston, the push rods are cut as mentioned.
Best to buy from CB or scat as a complete kit...then there is no room for error...except the mistakes they make...

From what I've read:
Mild stroker is possible for DYI b/c clearancing, etc are kept to a minimum. More than that and you are talking serious dollars and lots of potential
for failure from a million and one factors unless you get a kit from a reputable source and pay for them to have done the development work for you!

What is serious dollars????? Not a joke.
I have no idea what it costs to get a motor built here in Australia.
What are people paying for a turn key 1916 for example. I know years ago a pobjoy with webbers was near 5k. has it changed?
Let me know and then I will tell you what a 2007-2332 complete kit from scat costs ....everything for a long block , case, heads(mini d's), billet
crank, h-beam rods, cam, oil pump , pulley ...everything but tinwear, alt and carbs.
I want to put some perspective on costings.

Gotta be more than 5k now
Case $950
Machining $200
Heads $600
P&Cs $450
Crank and Cam $1,000 (?)
Dual carbs $1,000
Balancing $300
That's $4.5ks in parts only and still dizzy, oil pump, exhaust, etc to go

You can run stock clearanced rods with an 82mm crank. Induction costs $$, heads and carbs. The cnc heads are a pretty good deal, the wedge port design
seems to be working for some, you could conceivably put together a 12 second car with off the shelf parts using those heads, with the right combo.
Personally I have had really good experience with CB performance, and demello machine. Dont be scared off by the welded stroker, they are a very
strong well proven crank.

If you can do basics like clearancing the case yourself, you put together a stroker longblock for about 6k.
I personally wouldn't put too much faith in the scat cast billet cranks for any serious performance, especially when there are excellent forged
cranks for just a little more... (eg CB)

Its from Scat VW, not a distributor.
go to scatvw.com
see catalog. you do not get a price lit ...it gets mailed to you...or if you purchase something, like I did, then they posty it to you. They have
three prices. racer, dealer and wholesale. Anyone with a business can get dealer.
The volksroker kit is cheaper than the volksracer kit also.
My vollsracer kit minus head and case was $800, with 1.4 rocker and an engle cam upgrade and different pulley cost me about $1700 landed.......
