rubbers too hard?
it has been suggested that west coast metric rubbers can cause your doors to not close properly when put in new, is this true as i am about to place
an order for complete body rubbers. It was also suggested that brazillian rubbers are softer and do not have this problem. surely lots of vee
dubbers have new rubbers in doors and have some experience?:P

Brazilians will often cost about a third of some other rubbers. At that price, I'd be happy to replace them a few years earlier. You're not gonna
get 3 times the life out of 'em. Just my 2c (though my pricing ideas are based purely on heresay, and not actual quotes).

have had WCM rubbers recently put on my doors...it is true they are hard to close in the beginning and even had the doors pop open a bit whilst
driving... but they have been getting better as the rubbers soften a bit... nice having water proof doors though

Well I just have door rubbers , probably NOT WCM.... and the doors are still hard to shut... I slam them shut and leave them for weeks on end.. [easywhen NOT driving the car]
My Son had new brazillian ones on His oval... When He closed the door... the door chopped half the rubber Off!!!
There are good -- not so good -- bad and bloody bad sorts of Brazillian stuff on the market... all from different factories...
I have just installed Brazillian running boards on My beetle and I can stand on them... and jump on them... they are good heavy duty brazillian... My
Son's are very light , in fact terrible... brazillian running boards... If We could just find out who sells the BEST Brazillian at the best prices..
All our prayers would be answered....
Yes, I agree, replacing a door rubber every few years is NOT a problem....

would softening them with armarol or something first be of any use???
am about to do body/paint work on the type 3 (in the next month or two) and want to replace ALL my seals once it has been resprayed.
how do i go about doing something like that......? i mean, where do i buy them from? do they make brazillan ones for T3s or is it just (as usual) for
beetles?

If you only want 3 months usage out of the rubbers then buy the Brazilian they might go to maybe 6 months.
The reason your doors wont close is that they need adjusting and also the door rubber is not sitting in the groove correctly, they have to be pushed
right into it which takes afew hours with a timber wedge.
