Yet another newby
I have been lurking here for a few days now, and have decided that it's about time I introduced myself.
I am recent newcomer to the world of VW's. I have always wanted a beetle. I don't remeber when I made that decision, but my uncle with his floorpan
buggy(paddock bomb/hack) probably had somthing to do with it . I finally
bought a '71 super beetle about 18 months ago, It has a rebuilt engine (1600 dp), and a good drive train, although the clutch is a bit iffy. I am
slowly turning it into a baja, though there is a fair bit of rust I have to fix first.
I also have a '69 kombi that I bought for parts (gearbox mainly), the engine runs and apart from a flat tyre, it is driveable.
This post is getting a bit long so that will do for now.

Congrats on the vw ownership....unfortunately the superbug isnt really a good choice for a baja bug, you'll be flat out finding a baja kit for it,
and the front suspension is too weak.

hi chris. i dont mean to throw a spanner in the works because i know it can and has been done but super bugs arent usually made into bajas because of
their macpherson strut front end. also superbugs have different guard bolt patterns which mean u can just use a regular baja kit on the front as far
as i know. but good luck with it anyway and welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the welcome guys
There are some pics of the bug on my website here
I'll post some pics of the kombi in the next day or so.
As for the super beetle - baja thing, I am aware of the problems, though I have heard of a few supers that do quite well as bajas. That and the fact
that I like to consider myself a bit of a pionier (usually only on a good day ) when it comes to this sort of thing.
Anyway. like I said, thanks for the welcome. Hopefully I'll learn a few things from you guys, and you just never know, I might auctualy be able to
contribute somthing worthwhile to the board .

The super baja can be done. i just wouldn't do it to mine. most important thing: get a strut brace! a good, adjustable one if you can. One of the
biggest probs is collapsed strut towers. the shockies in the mc-p's have a tendency to blow too. I used to get through 1 a year, but you probably
don't drive like I do. ahh, gotta go! bub is screaming!
If at first you don't succeed. Build, build again.
