Replacing stubborn tailpipes
Does anyone have any tricks for this?, I've scraped out the gasket, soaked the joint with penetrating oil, and they just will not budge.

Get a pipe wrench on them Pat and twist them back and forth. If you can heat the muffler bits were they go it might be handy too. I saw these on you
car the other day, you could always just wait until they rusted away. Buy the looks of them it wouldn't be long

cut them off level with the muffler then use a hacksaw blade saw to split the pipe where it goes inside the muffler.
this way you can pry out the section using some pliers.
