010 auto box
Serious gearbox fluid coming out around the bell housing. Yes I am going to pull the motor out and hopefully it is just the seal on the toque
converter.
Anything I should be carefull with or need any special tools.
Will be checking the motor while it's out etc Just have no experience with a VW auto

um what is the 010 auto ? never seen one before ?
you can measure the depth of the input seal areaon the converter , then measure the depth of the seal area in the gear box , you may find you have
room for two input seals , this works very well on the 003 auto .
its the flex plate thats the problem converter moves about .

Thanks Seagull at least a reply. 010 is out of a 76 kombi. From my books it is just a manual auto box, that is no vacuum or electric kickdown. book is
a gregorys and is a bit vague in some sections. only says to measure how far the T/C is sitting in and make sure you replace it in the same position

That is the same as mine in the 82 air cooled vanagon
For what it is worth you can take them out without taking the motor out.
Or so i have been told.

a problem is the breather , remove the *TIN * can on top of the ato box , you will see the breathers there .Some were rubber and some a steel can
,shit gets in them , your box is seeing pressure as it heats up pissing oil all over the place .
Holden breathers can be made to fit these were on the diff , I run a hose to get it out from under the cover and up on to the body , out of the dust
and in a dry place
a trick is to allso fit two seals to the converterin put on the box , works well .
hope this helps
