What engine do I have?
I pulled the heads off. Measured the bore, it 83.5 and the stroke is 64 which make it an 1385cc right? So why is it narrower than the 1500cc I have in
my car? I thought 1300/1500/1600 are all the same?
Or this was a 1200 then someone put a big bore kit in it?

64mm stroke means its a 1200 with a big bore kit hence the narrower engine. You can get a 1300 in a 69mm stroke (post 68 1300's) and 64mm stroke (pre
68 1300's)

I bought it with another 1500cc engine which is the one I am really interested in. The guy had two and wouldn't seperate. I am keeping the 1500 (I
need the case) but will be selling the other if you are interested. I am intending to pull the top end apart to check everything and reseal it all.
Its 12v with a 6v flywheel. Turns over nicely and feels it has enough compression. No aparent leaks. I can get some pics with it pulled apart too.
complete except for exhaust. Heater boxes, tin, carby, generator, dizzy, leads, everything included.

I am just rebuilding the 1200 thats the original engine for my Ghia with some NOS rods I got off waltermitty so I dont need it. Just interested as the
1200 to 1385 big bore kit isnt that common.
Are you going to Valla Raf? I want to have a natter about your 356 progress.
Cheers
Steve

No worries Steve, I will stick here and in the trading post once all sealed up again.
Unfortunately I am not coming to Valla, would've loved to. Check a whole lot of pics @ http://au.f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/rafikdous/album?.dir=/0602&.src=ph&am...
Got the engine in last weekend but something wrong with the clutch. Hope I don't have to take the engine out again. Doing all the work alone is
making things very slow and difficult
Cheers
Raf
