Buggy security?

just got my buggy done. what do you guys do to make it secure when you leave it parked in a public place?

The best steering locks?
Kill switches?
stereos? (I have a detachable face one at the mo)

Kill switches are good....
or the Switch that disconnects the battery lead .....
even the large starter motor cable switch wuth a plastic key..

Someone has said they have a blinker unit connected to a kill switch so the car starts and runs for a few seconds and cuts out... etc etc.... so the thief thinks something is wrong with the engine...
I am installing a burgular alarm with a horn speaker installed IN the car... so it will be too noisy to stay in the car....

Large stainless steel lockable storage bin fits in the rear of the buggy, available through the Manx Club(click onlink below)

I also have steel lockable glove box's mounted under my seats.

I got a 2 point aus standards immobiliser in my buggy. You can pick these up for around $100. Also adapted the late model ignition switch so i have a locking steering column. I also use a steering wheel club lock. If you turn the wheel to the left, then attach the steering lock so it sticks out over the right hand side of the body it means you can't straigten the steering wheel.

Finally I try to avoid parking in a place where it can be rolled away.

Other measures i'm thinking of adding are switches in the seats in lue of door switches. Sit in the seat and the alarm will go off.

I reckon the good thing about a buggy is that because it attracts so much attention sitting there and that it is very open, its going to be a lot harder for a theif to steal it without being noticed. Whether they think the same way, I dunno...

By the way, congrats on getting the buggy rego'd. I went through the same thing a few months back :)

Get a 3 point immobiliser made by Brant. Supposedly the best. A couple of insurance companies won't insure cars without them.

this is a really good idea and free too!!!!

1) start the buggy and take it out for a run
2) hide your identity
3) whammo! you run over a bikie member from the local chapter.
4) steal his jacket complete with membership patch
5) hang the article in question off of roll bar

instant security! this method will deter people from stealing your buggy for several reasons, the possible harm they may endure as a result of their actions and the intimidation of the bikie gang awaiting your return. on a brighter note if they did get away with it you could watch a live feed of the ensuing bikie chase live on the news on tv hahahahahahahaha :thumb

i know of a car that was stolen from the local bike gang and they threatened to clean out the area of town which stole it if it was not returned within 5 minutes of this news hitting the streets 3 local, who were not of any particular colour of skin, turned themselve in to the cops, but the cops said they new nothing of the theft.

ha ha Bami, I've got 2 of those but they're more interested in making friends with people than biting them. They let some punk steal my lawn mower from under my house, stupid dogs. The cat however....

I think it would be better to put a sticker on it that says,
"tuned by HSV",
everyone knows they couldn't tune a guitar. :puke

p.s there has to be at least one meathead who'll bite. ;)
