brake backing plates

Hey,

Just wondering if people usually have these on or off and what difference it makes for a stock disc setup. I would assume leaving it off would get better airflow around the disc but would this leave it open to collect crap off the road?

Any experiences? thanks

Jon

VW spent a lot of money developing them. I have the fitted on my 65, and have had no problems with them at all. they keep out rocks and water.

I pulled mine off 13 years ago and no probs in more than 150,000km of driving... They might keep rocks etc out but I have had more rocks stuck in other cars with backing plates than my Beetle without... flip a coin!
