Type 3 engine into beetle?

hi people, havent been on for a wghile, but Danielle is still around ;)

anyways, as the title says, if we pick up a complete engine out of a type 3, will it fit into the beetle, obviously after converting to the upright/porsche type cooling fan setup?

just thinking it will be easier to pick up a type 3 engine complete with twinport heads and twin carbs, and shove it all into the beetle together, rather han changing heads, then carbs onto the current short block, which needs to have the cooling system checked out anyway.

thanks for any help :)

PS, I guess this is really just asking if the Type 3 block and barrels will fit, as I've already asked about the carbs and heads before :)

my dad did most of the work, but the only thing i remember that needed to be done other than the completely obvious in regards to the fan housing and whatnot, was tapping a new oil filler hole

I've just finished this, so far I have found I had to:

Fit all the type 1 tin ware and oil cooler,
Drill and tap a new oil pressure switch hole,
Make a blanking plate where the type 3 dipstick and oil fill tube bolts to the sump,
Make a new dipstick tube to fit to said blaning plate. I tried to drill the dipstick hole in the block same as beetle but I didnt have a drill bit long enough and gave up on that idea.

I'm using the type 3 twin carbs and had to make the linkage brackets too, but if you use the stock beetle carb and manifold then no problem.

If it aint broke,
