i have two 210mm flywheels with the 5 bolt crank pattern...are these from 1600 kombis?

G'day Dessert Moose,
What motor are you using?
215mm is 1800 type4 as Steve said and 210mm is 1700 type4. 2lt has 228mm and wont fit in 1600 to 1800 bellhousings. All type4 motors have 5 bolt
flange on end of crank.

Hi all, Its not for me.... A very good friend of mine is looking for one (he doesn't have a computer) so I was trying to help him out. he needs 215mm
the flange is going to be cut out anyway (subi).

All Type4 flywheels are cast iron and not suitable to be welded. Whereas Type1 flywheels are machined out of billett steel and can be welded. There's
a couple of options when it comes to adapting flywheels, one is to machine the crank mating boss of a 12v type1 and match it to the new motor and if
you want to go to 215 clutch have it machined to suit.
The other way is to use the clutch face of the flywheel of new engine and machine the back out of a 12v VW flywheel (or 1800) and press the two
together with an interference fit using Loctite Super holding compound and longer pressure plate bolts. I have used this method twice with no
problems, even at 8500 revs.
