Motor with big endfloat? Is it goosed?
I have a 1600 single port engine that came with my Kombi that I have since replaced. I'm trying to clear out all the junk engine bits, and I have
this motor that has a lot of end play (30 thou instead of 3-5 thou). It looks like a brazilian or mexican case.
With this sort of end play does it mean that the case is flogged out and the crank is useless? Is the case and crank destined or Sims or is it
something that can be fixed?

CBB machined mine
They can measure up and cut the thrust surface and then cut a fat thrust bearing to suit - as opposed to cutting the surface to suit a precut bearing.
Just gives a bit more meat
It may be that the bearing is mooving.
It is worth pulling down and checking out.
For a couple $100 you could rebuild yourself a good single port

Hey Steve, I have a single port 1600 in exactly the same condition! Before stripping the case the endfloat was similar... "d'oh!" I thought.
It's stripped down now and hopefully will be an easy rebuild. they make a good "insurance engine" - sitting on the bench until needed.

If you can grab hold of the crank pully and move it back n forwards more than the 0.008" limit, then i would say that the crankcase has been hammered
and needs stripping and machining.
