Needs help (tools) to remove flytwheel
Anyone in Melb has the tools to remove the flywheel that I can borrow? I need to replace a 12v one with a 6v this week.

You need the special adaptor that bolts on to the ring gear teeth and stops the flywheel from moving.. then a 3/4 drive breaker bar & socket and
a long piece of pipe....
or a compressor & rattle gun...
It is possible to take the flywheel off without the special tool
by using a piece of angle iron ..

DO NOT use the little flywheel lock that bolts to the bell housing -- chances are youl break out the hole and it is still difficult to hold it FAR
better to get a piece of flat bar and bolt it to the flywheel in a few spots then use a breaker bar---no damage to your case |

Get a 2m piece of angle iron 50mm x 50mm drill some holes and bolt it to the flywheel,get another one and weld a 36mm socket to it,this last one is
good for the 36mm nuts on your brake drums too on beetles. |

we used a mega sized screwdriver and pivoted it off one of the protruding pins then locked into a flywheel tooth when we took the flywheel off the
subi motor. worked great

hey raf,
you dont even need to drill holes. Just put in two flywheel bolts in and position an angle or anything straight and long between them, then use your
36mm socket to push against it. The idea is that the angle is wedged between the two bolts and pushes onto the ground.
Its really easy, I think Muir says u have to drill holes, but if u just position it so it pushes against the two bolts its fine, u just have to flip
it over when u want to tighten it.
