Can anybody help me find a web site that enables you to find out what size engine you have by the engine number??

OR is there some other way if telling??

i did a google search for "VW ENGINE AD" which found a few sites that list all the code designations, finding my AD motor.

alternatively you could post up the code you have and one of these nice enthusiests would undoubtably be able to identify it for you.

more than likely its a 1600 dual port.
Its a bit hard to tell from the number if its been bored out to a bigger size.
but most probally its a 1600.

The 1500s in a Type 3 were only up to 1966 from memory and were single inlet port
some of the early 1600s were also single inlet ports.
I think twin ports came out in around 1967 or early 68.
