Kombi rubber replacement

my '74 Kombi's rubber around the sliding side door has just about gone. You can see daylight from the inside looking out. Do I just contact my local vw supplier? (Volksfactory) or is it cheaper to get the rubber from a rubber supplier (like Clarke's). What is involved in taking what remains of the old rubber off and putting the new stuff on? help appreciated.
Ian

Phone for a price from volkauto, kegworth street, melrose park.
Then take a piece of the seal to clarks and see how much they charge, I think it will be cheaper at clarks, I have heard a lot of peolpe use clarks rubber and it is good stuff.
Cheers
