Saw my first turbo beetle today since March!
Hiya,
I've left my business card with the owner of a lovely Black Turbo Beetle (and an aircooled, too :-) so she can come to our next cruise.
With some luck, I hope she'll come to our next cruise. Be good to have another turbo owner along. :-)

New Beetles common in Sydney!!

I spoke to the turbo beetle's owner, Martine. :-)
I own a turbo beetle myself, and a 1970 type 3 fasty. Check out my rides in the Member's Rides section.

Hey, neither one of those was a beetle. I'm not knocking the "New Beetle," it's a good car and excellent value for money - but it
isn't a beetle and is a whole world apart in it's concept. Type 3s are pretty cool, though.

My first car was a 1969 1300, so I have had a Beetle before.
I'm so not getting into whether my New Beetle is a Beetle or not. :-) In most ways (no shared componentry (at all), extremely fast, decent
handling, location of engine, method of cooling, modern toys like cruise and ESP), I totally agree with you, my New Beetle is not like a Beetle. But
for the people who see it on the street, it has that certain silouhette, invoking the good memories of the real thing. And the vast majority of buyers
(myself included) buy it for the shape and quirkiness. It has that essence du Beetle, but with a modern twist.
