no rear lights.. whats up?!
no rear parkers & light only BRake lights work.... for some reason one of the fuse burnt on me everytime i replace it...
what can it be ? I'm located in Brunswick Melbourne, are there any Elec around and I can take it to fix... can't drive @ night... sad

trace the wires from the fuse box back to the rear lights.......check for any exposed wires etc. which could short the circut. it should be something
simple i wouldnt waste money taking it to an auto electrition.

yep time to examine all the wiring its shorting some where or rubbed through the outer cover.
Just takes time to find it

but um..... time is important for that to happen... & got not a lot of knowledge in VWs.... still learning... after the exams.... got tones of
assignments due in this week.. crap...

u dont need a knowledge of anything just open the front hood and look where the fuse box is......if its like most old volksies it will be a spiderweb/
rats nest of wires. find the fuse that keeps blowing there will be one wire connected on either side of the fuse via spade clips.....the lower
wire should be the one which will lead to the rear of the car and to the lights....before you trace this back just check the fuse box doesnt have any
exposed metal objects resting on it etc. which could short out fuses.if 2 spade clips have been bent or something and are touching each other where
they shouldnt be try to bend them back (dont brake them off) then if everything is good start tracing the bottom wire from the fuse till it gets to
the loom (plastic tube that holds the wires together as they go up around the doors in the body to the rear of the car......now assume everything is
cool inside the loom and no earths in there.....and find the wire you were tracing as it comes out of the loom....check the wire has power when the
tail lights are switched on (for the tail lights not working) with a test light (get one from supercheap auto or a hardware) if it has power then keep
tracing ......if it doesnt have power youmight have a brakage in the loom......but this is unlikely......then test the wire again after any of the
little black splitters that volkswagen uses to turn the 1 wire into 2 wires (one for each tail light) if you still have power now keep tracing (both
wires) and check all the connections are good etc. you are just looking for a split in the wire, a dodgy connection or splitter etc. if you dont
find the problem and it still gives you trouble consider maybe taking it to an auto elec.

ikube, I had this about 2 months ago on my 69 bug, I started looking all over the car for shorts, etc and was getting real cheesed. I then found the
problem, dunno how it was affecting the lights but have had no problems since.
I found that the metal plate holding the bulbs in one of the tail lights needing a bit of tightening, where it holds a bulb. For each bulb you have a
hole and prongs either side (after you remove the plastic cup), well the bulb was a bit loose, I closed the gap slightly and made the bulb fit firmly.
Up till then I was blowing fuses within a second of replacement, could easily blow 12 in half an hour. Now, no problems for the last two months.
Not saying this is your problem but I was sure happy to find it was mine! Good luck.

Take the bulbs out and see if you still blow the fuse, if not then put one at a time back in. this may give you a start of which side it is.

Oooh YeAh baby~! everything fixed $25 bux only ... saved time wire broke
into 2 peices due to smash in number plate light, very light damage only & never notice met this nice bloke close to my place (auto elect), charged me $25 to fix that light and reconnect wires... quick job with
the tools .. thanks everyone !!
Anthiron: special thanks to you, I did had a look under and learned something out of it. Although the problem ain't the same but its a great
experience into the wirings :thumb
