Just play around with it until you find the look/height that you're happy with. Dont forget that the car will sag after you adjust it but.

1 spline front no rear = ok
2 spline front 1 rear =gooooooodd
3 spline front 2 rear= DUMPED

I assume you want to turn the torion bars for a free lowering job?? I used dropped spindles on my front end, no need to change shocks & you keep good ride quality. Does cost a bit though!

how much is a bit?
i like dropped spindles and would personally consider them the best way to lower a front end(apart from the lack of adjustibility, but a worthwhile compromise). although i never realised they were available for type 3s, but then i've only owned my type 3 for a few days so i havn't really looked around that much at whats available etc.
