Hi there, well I own a New Beetle as well as a couple of air coolers. But I grew up on Golf 1 and have owned and killed a number of them.
I'm very much thinking of selling the New Beetle and getting one of the 1993 last production Golf 1 cabriolets... with a plan to use it as a
daily driver and make it special over time.
What year, model and mods etc is yours? It looks cool

We have have mk1 golf gti which was a project in 2002. We had to take the old motor out put the gti 1600 motor in it and do all the fuel injection
stuff to it. Now it is all complete. We built it for motorkhanas.

I dropped a flyer onto a green and gold Mk1 today near the shopiing centre here. It looks like a faithful thats refusing to give in. So all going well
its owner might log on in the next couple of day and say hi.

Just to clarify dude... in the UK '92 to '93 was the handover year so there are Mk1 cabs from '93. Then there was the Mk3 based
cabriolet, there was never a Mk2 or Mk4 based cabriolet. And the Mk3 based one has just stopped being made (certainly for the Uk) to make way for the
NB cabriolet.

down..........hahahha.
its a shame cuz i know for sure there's definately good looking MKI's around sydney of late........was just curious to see if they had found
their way here yet.

yes thats true but the sad reality is that only poor ppl get into old MKI's.......generally speaking.....
and stuggling ppl dont have money to pour into something that doesnt hold any returns at all.
oh wells.......just little old me in here as usual.

The other big problem with 1s is parts supply.
Okay now I know they still make the 1 in south africa... but in europe it is becoming harder to get parts.
In germany they don't seem to have much if any scene for the 1s... so independant parts suppliers are stopping parts
In the uk we pay a lot more for cars than they do in mainland europe, so we tend to keep them longer and the 1s have just stayed around. In europe
they were scraped or sold to eastern europe and asia.
But yes there are some bad ass 1s in the uk... the winner of the show 'n' shine at bugjam last year was a 1...
