How to remove glue?
I've removed all the interior from the beetle and found all the carpet, headliner and stuff glued to the metal . The area around the front firewall
is the worst, there is shitloads of really hard and thick dried contact cement everywhere.
Is acetone the stuff to use on this or just thinners?
It's that hard even the wire brush on a drill is having trouble shifting it.
Cant believe the amount of old hessian, tarboard, cardboard and other crap in an original interior.
You can literally get tar and feathered cleaning it all out:P

thinner,s and accetone will both work and youl pass out as well in that space so i use good old petrol its not much better butt works quicker so thats
less time you have to sniff it up and its a bit easyer on the lungs and nose

I used a paint scraper & razor blades....
Not an easy job.....

get a heat gun or hair dryer and soften the glue and wipe it off with prepsol .CARGROOMERS at yatla in brisbane sell a glue remover called tint glue
remover its pink and it removes any glue good stuff.use it on tint stickers and glue i used it under my carpet and roof.....colleen

I have found that turps works reasonably well. Wipe it on liberally, wait a few minutes for it to soak in, then scrape the glue off with a paint
scraper. Don't leave it too long or the glue just goes hard again.
It is a pain in the arse job what ever you use and takes alot of scraping.
Ain't nothin' like the wind in your hair.

wax and grease remover works well just let it soak in to the glue and it melts
|
